Up to date Series overall Results and Cacti Cross Race Report
Another weekend of exciting Interior Cross racing; this time in Kamloops, saw costumed racers take to the line, cupcake handouts (thanks Darrin and Phil) and a chance to earn more series points as all BC Cup categories were weighted equally for Interior Cross series points.
By popular demand Cat 3/4 men combined with Citizen men and race times were compared to determine placing and points. Trevor Pearson of Delta made another Interior cross appearance taking a convincing lead early on, but being challenged by Kamloops Local, Ryan Kazakoff near the end. A last lap surge saw Trevor take the win. Paul Shipley of kelowna nabbed 3rd in front of riders from Kamloops, Revelstoke and Christina Lake.
In The women's B (Citizen) field the costumes were as spectacular as the racing action. Marta Green (devil) of Vernon took another win ahead of newcomer Jessica Lathrop (Girl guide) of Kamloops and Amanda Macintosh (Bumble bee) of Revelstoke.
In the Elite men's field we had two 2011 mtb Canada Cup winners, Evan Guthrie and Matt Hadley, duking it out for the podium, with a ballerina, no wait that's Mat Hewitt using his barrier bunny hopping ballet skills to dance his way into the mix. Evan "Superman" Guthrie took the win over Mat Hewitt, with Matt Hadley (expresso) taking 3rd.
In the Masters fields Keith Wilson of Kamloops grabbed his 2nd BC cup win in 3/4 ahead of Aaron Weiss (Daryl Evans) also of Kamloops and Shawn Peterson (Steed cycles-Vancouver). Selina Lawrie took the master women's win. Chris Mcneil of Kamloops took on BC cup series leader Bob Welbourn of North Vancouver and won the Masters 1/2. Martin Bojeson of Kamloops was 3rd. Kellen Viznaugh of Revelstoke took another U17 win, this time over Peter Whalen (Local Ride).
Catharine Pendrel (Luna) had some female challengers this week in Women's A with expresso/local riders Jean Ann Berkenpas and Sandra Walter taking to the line as well as Nicola Mann of Bellingham, Washington. Jean ann applied the pressure early on with her excellent cross skills and horsepower, but Catharine eventually pulled away. Sandra Walter finished 3rd ahead of Nicola Mann.
Series
Defending Interior Cross Leader Joe Wessel of kelowna had a rough day, finishing 6th in Master 1/2 allowing Keith Wilson to take over the Interior cross A lead. Marta Green solidified her lead on the Women's B as did Justin Darbyshire of Christina Lake, Kellen Viznaugh (U17) of Revelstoke and Catharine Pendrel (A) of Kamloops..
Thanks to everyone who travelled for our event and made it such a fun day. Thanks also to our 16 kid racers!

Interior Cross Series Points table and recap with 2 Races remaining
In the Men's A Joe Wessel of Kelowna leads Keith Wilson of Kamloops by 5 points, but Evan Guthrie is back and so focused on cross performance he shared his Jumbo cookie last weekend. Catharine Pendrel is duking it out with the boys in Women's A, not yet defeating her husband, but atleast forcing him to a puke inducing pace!
Some of the hottest battles were contested in the women's B category with Road racer Kristine Bryjolfson going up against Master's xc ski World champion turned cx racer Marta Green and Kelowna favourtie Tanille Stickley. The men's B is offering new competition every weekend so the lead is constantly changing up, but consistently there is rising star Under 17 rider Kellen Viznaugh of Revelstoke.

On September 25, as part of the 2nd Annual Penticton Cycling Festival, the Penticton and Area Cycling Association hosted a Cyclocross Race on scenic Munson Mountain. The event was also the 1st race in three race series organized by Catharine Pendrel and sponsored in part by Oakley and Cliff Bar. The race was won by Evan Guthrie, Dan MacDonald in 2nd and Ron Ellis in third. At her first attempt at Cyclocross Jenny Ayers was the top female rider on the day. Next race for the Interior series is scheduled for October 17th in Kelowna and then October 31st in Kamloops. A big thanks goes out to the Bike Barn and the City of Penticton.
